The League Club awarded $10,000 to support Wheelchairs 4 Kids “Let’s Roll” in Southwest Florida.
Let’s Roll provides wheelchairs, home and vehicle modifications as well as other assistive equipment to physically disabled children.
“With this grant we will be able to provide essential equipment and modifications for children with physical disabilities in Lee and Collier counties who have been denied coverage by insurance or Medicaid,” said Madeline Robinson, executive director of Wheelchairs for Kids.
Let’s Roll provides wheelchairs and home and vehicle modifications for those up to age 21 with physical disabilities who have been denied by Medicaid or insurance.
“Many are stuck in unsafe, ill-fitting wheelchairs because replacements aren’t allowed for five years — despite rapid growth and changing needs,” Robinson said. “This funding will help improve their mobility, comfort, and overall health.”
For the past 38 years, The League Club has provided over $8 million in grants to 222 nonprofit organizations in Collier and Lee counties.
“These grants directly impact the needs of at-risk adults and children in the areas of housing, food scarcity, education, physical and mental health, and the arts,” said Donna Lindberg, president of The League Club.
The League Club includes women who are current or former members of a Junior League affiliated with The Association of Junior Leagues International.
